KOCHI: The city police probing the complaint lodged by an actress regarding using a body double in ‘Honey Bee 2’ helmed by Jean Paul Lal will approach the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) seeking the copy of the movie submitted for certification.

The police said the move comes in the wake of the preliminary inquiry indicating the director had used a body double to portray the character played by the complainant in the movie.  “On verification of the censored copy, we noticed a body double was used. So, we have to examine the copy sent for certification to confirm this. Further steps will be initiated after verifying the copy,” said Thrikkakara Assistant Commissioner of Police P P Shams. Once the verification process is complete, the police will collect statements of the filmmaker and his associates.

The cops on Sunday also recorded the statement of a makeup man associated with ‘Honey Bee 2’.
The police said the investigation so far has revealed the complainant had some issues with the filmmaker during the shoot of the movie at a resort at Kumbalam in 2016. A police team will visit the resort at Kumbalam, where the alleged incident took place, for gathering evidence. The city police had on June 25 registered a case against Jean Paul Lal, actor Sreenath Bhasi and two others for allegedly passing lewd remarks at a junior actress who worked in ‘Honey Bee 2’. The other two accused in the case are Anoop and Anirudh, who are also associated with the movie.

A case has been registered against the accused under sections 420 (cheating) and 354 (attempting to outrage the modesty of a woman) of the IPC.
