KOCHI: ADGP K Padmakumar on Saturday said it was necessary parents and teachers remained vigilant of activities of their children and students as 90 percent of the things circulating on the cyberspace were fake.

“Giving complete freedom to children on the internet is more dangerous than children walking on a busy road,” Padmakumar said while giving a talk on cyber safety and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act during the 10th CBSE Principals’ Conference organised by the Confederation of Kerala Sahodaya Complexes.

“Strangers could access the username, password and photos of the children. Essential awareness on this should be spread among children at the school level,” he said. Monisha Priyam said the teaching community should be given more importance and effective training to take education to global standards. Former Vice-Chancellor of M G University Cyriac Thomas took a class on ‘Priorities in today’s education’, while Rebecca J Dal, director of US’ Global Academy spoke on global opportunities in education.
