Family ousted from train; plaint lodged

Despite getting confirmed tickets, a man and his family were not allowed to travel in the reserved compartment of the New Delhi-bound Nizamudheen Express earlier this month.

KOCHI: Despite getting confirmed tickets, a man and his family were not allowed to travel in the reserved compartment of the New Delhi-bound Nizamudheen Express earlier this month. Deepak Kumar Pujara, a native of Mattancherry, his wife and two children were forced to alight at Thrissur Railway Station on September 6 by officers despite having reserved tickets, said a complaint Deepak lodged with the General Manager, Zonal Headquarters, Southern Railways, in Chennai. The complaint said he had booked the tickets on June 1 for his journey to Ernakulam-Goa during Onam holidays. 

It said upon entering the train Deepak found other passengers travelling in the berths allotted to them. 
The TTE and other Railway officers forcibly ousted the family from the coach at Thrissur station. Deepak then continued his journey on the same train after buying general compartment tickets, the complaint said.
