Four persons arrested for attacking film producer Maha Subair in Kochi 

A gang comprising ten members was involved in the scuffle and searches are underway to nab the others involved in the attack, said an official.

KOCHI: The city police on Wednesday arrested four persons for attacking Malayalam film producer Maha Subair at a bar in Kaloor on Tuesday.
 
The arrested have been identified as Antony (24), from Varapuzha; Mohammed Isham (24) from Ernakulam; Carlton Paramel (28) from Mamangalam and Cedric Mendez (22) of Ayyappankavu. The accused were produced before a local court and remanded to judicial custody.

"The accused have no links with any quotation gang and it was not a planned attack but merely a drunken brawl. All of the accused have been slapped with charges of attempt to murder and rioting," said Ernakulam North sub inspector Vipin Das.

According to the officials, the youngsters were arguing with the security guard over parking issues at the bar when Subair walked through the spot talking on the mobile phone. Misapprehending that he was informing the matter to police, they unleashed an attack towards him.
 
According to the police, Maha Subair, his friend and a security staff of the bar-hotel were beaten up with beer bottles by the youngsters.
 
The producer sustained injuries close to his ear panel and was admitted to Medical Trust hospital. His condition is stable and will remain under observation for a day, said sources.

The film crew had taken rooms in the bar-hotel as part of an ongoing shoot for an upcoming film.
 
Maha Subair aka Varnachitra Subair has produced several movies in Malayalam including, Christian Brothers, Salaam Kashmir, Manassinakkare and Paleri Manikyam.
