KOCHI: The three-day football camp for the blind footballers of both Thailand and Indian players organised by Indian Blind Football Federation with the Thailand National Blind Football Team concluded on Wednesday.

The three-day camp which started on July 23 at Jogo Grounds, Chilavanoor, was part of an exchange of skills programme to develop the National Academy Team comprising Indian players to develop the side for the future.

The sessions were conducted by experienced Thailand coaches Surin Sungsiri and  Chaiyaporn Sanidwong with the Thailand Blind football team captain Kong and Panyawut Kupan, one of the talented players who scored at the recently concluded Blind Football World Cup, at Madrid in June’18.

"Really, this kind of combined training sessions will help to improve the quality of both countries' players at a great extent. Since both of the team members are getting the opportunity to showcase their talent, it will help build a team which can compete with other national squads," said Tim Suphankomut, Thailand Blind Sports Association head.

Tim also said the Indian players will also get a chance to play at Thailand soon.

"The players have to get more opportunities and then only the skills can be polished. Meantime, their other skills needs to be developed," he said.

Panyawut, who is widely regarded as a magician of the Blind Football and a top goal-scorer for Thailand at the World Cup 2018, said the camp is an eye-opener.

"The camp was really helpful to improve the overall game, ball skills, technical aspects and team play. The Indian players are so talented and we are really happy to spend some time with our counterpart," said Panyawut.
