KOCHI:The first build-up event to Krithi 2019, the second edition of the international festival of books and authors organised by the Department of Cooperation, will begin at U C College, Aluva, on Monday with a lecture series titled ‘Writer of the Land’. The build-up event was inspired by the tremendous response to the section on the great authors in Krithi 2018 which displayed their photographs, manuscripts, brief biographic sketches and voices.
Taking it forward, the ‘Writer of the Land’ lecture series will be conducted at various places in Kerala as a build-up to the next year’s event. The series will team up with leading colleges and will highlight each region’s major writers. The lecture series will be followed by cultural programs as well, a news release said.
In UC College, Aluva, the lecture series will be held from Monday to August 13, 2018, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm every day at T B Ninan Hall.On Monday, the inaugural day, Prof M. K. Sanu will inaugurate the series in a function to be presided over by Dr Thara K Simon, principal, UC College.
S. Ramesan, general convenor, Krithi, will introduce the Writer of the Land concept. First day’s lecture will be delivered by Sanu on ‘Why Vyloppilli is a Mahakavi of Malayalam’, which will be followed by stage performances of poems by Changampuzha and Vyloppilli, poetry recitals, singing of songs written by P J Antony and staging of plays written by C J Thomas.The lecture series is curated by Samoohya Samrambhaka Co-operative Society in association with Old Student Association of U C College.
