Meanwhile, the GIDA general council meeting held the other day decided to speed up the construction of the Moolampilly-Pizhala bridge and complete it in a time-bound manner.

At the meeting, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan instructed the officers concerned to complete the Mulavaukadu road development programme. The council also decided to set aside `23.60 crore from its funds for constructing breakwater (pulimuttu) at the coastal area between Vypeen and Munambam.
The meeting also decided to complete land acquisition for the construction of the Valiya Kadamakkudy-Chathanad bridge and take steps steps to look into the work of Kothad-Chennoor bridge.

It was after complaints from the local bodies that the GIDA Council was held. The civic administrators from the area have alleged the official apathy is the reason for the delay in the completion of Mollampilly-Pizhala bridge.
