Clicks from commuters, a ‘lens eye view’ of business capital’s new age pride

Now, on the threshold of its first birthday bash in June this year,  the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) will launch a unique project titled ‘Kochi Metro 365’.

KOCHI: Now, on the threshold of its first birthday bash in June this year, the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) will launch a unique project titled ‘Kochi Metro 365’.The project aims to capture the human moments in and around the Kochi Metro, showcasing how its presence has transformed the way the city is perceived and the Metro’s brand recall among Kochiites in the future.

The project is split into two phases.  The first phase is a Public Photo contest which invites everyone to capture the most emphatic human moments of Kochi Metro through the camera and upload it on the KMRL’s website after registration.  

The contest will open on April 3 and will end on the April 12.  Each participant can upload up to two photographs along with a caption and a concept note for each. The entries will be judged by an eminent jury. The winner of the photo contest will get a Rs 50,000 cash prize while the second and third prizes will  fetch the winners Rs 25,000 and Rs 15,000, respectively.

There will also be six Special Jury awards which carry a prize money of Rs 10,000 each. The registration fee for the contestants is Rs 1,000.The second phase of this project will be a never-seen-before coffee table book, which will comprise the best 300-odd photographs from the contest, in addition to the images captured by some of the country’s leading lensmen. The images which bagged the top three prizes  will occupy the pride of place in the coffee table book

“The people of Kochi have always shown remarkable ownership and pride in the Kochi Metro project and we are constantly trying to measure upto their expectations to make it the best. On the special occasion of completing our first year of operations, who better to invite than the vibrant people of Kochi to celebrate! ”said KMRL managing director A P M Mohammed Hanish.

He said ‘Kochi Metro 365’ will be the country’s first people-powered Metro book and the agency is excited to embark on this challenging journey. The rules of the contest and other details are available at www.kochimetro.org, the Metro’s official website.

The photos to be selected from a photo contest  promises to make you part of Kochi Metro’s history
The selected photos will become part of India’s first people-powered Metro book, in addition to winners receiving cash awards worth D1.5 lakh
The winner of the photo contest will get a D50,000 cash prize while the second and third prizes will  fetch the winners D25,000 and D15,000, respectively
There will also be six Special Jury awards which carry a prize money of D10,000 each. The registration fee for the contestants is D1,000
The second phase of this project will be a never-seen-before coffee table book
