KOCHI: A 25-year-old woman from Kasaragod and her 26-year-old fiance from Kannur were found dead in separate locations in Karnataka and Kerala on Wednesday, just months before their wedding, leaving their families shocked.

P Anushree, who hailed from Kootakkani in Kasaragod’s Pallikkara grama panchayat and worked at a branch of a nationalised bank in Hunsur in Karnataka’s Mysuru district, was found dead at her residence in Hunsur. The Hunsur police have launched a probe.

Her fiance, V Amal, who hailed from Ambalathattu in Kannur and worked in the same bank’s MG Road branch in Ernakulam, was found dead in a lodge near the Ernakulam North railway station.

The FIR registered by Ernakulam Town North police said Amal was found hanging from a fan in Room 305 of Flagship Malabar Hotel.

The FIR said the incident occurred between 8.23am and 10am on Wednesday. The police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

Anushree and Amal were engaged and their families had fixed their marriage for December 26. According to Amal’s neighbours in Kannur, the duo had visited the house on Saturday and left on Sunday. Sudhakaran, Amal’s father, was constructing a new house for the couple, the neighbours said.
