KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has expressed concern over the delay in establishing three more new NDPS courts in Thrissur, Palakkad and Manjeri, as directed by the court earlier.
The court noted that the matter had been pending before the state government for a long time.
The Advocate General assured the court that the issues relating to the appointment of permanent staff for the two newly sanctioned NDPS courts in Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram would be resolved by September 10. Steps would also be taken to ensure the establishment of three more NDPS courts in accordance with the court’s earlier directions.
The court directed the state to file a compliance report in this regard.
The court also directed the state government to take up the matter with the Central government for utilising the funds available under the scheme, “Development of infrastructure facilities for district and subordinate courts”, towards the judicial infrastructure required for the Special NDPS Courts.
