

KOCHI: Kerala State Human Rights Commission chairperson Alexander Thomas has directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to conduct the maintenance works on the pothole-filled Kundannur-Thevara bridge.
Issuing an order, the commission has directed the executive engineer of PWD (National Highways Division), to repair and re-tar the road, which is in a deteriorating condition.
The executive engineer has been instructed to depute an assistant executive engineer to conduct inspection and take necessary action.
The assistant executive engineer has also been directed to submit the site inspection report to the executive engineer, who should file an action taken report in three-weeks time.
The commission has also directed that steps be taken to prevent accidents and ensure public safety.
The almost 2 km-long bridge road has been in a pathetic condition as potholes appeared following heavy rain.
