KSRTC flags off new Garuda buses

The KSRTC rolled out new Garuda (Volvo) buses which will connect Thiruvananthapuram to Ernakulam and Bangalore.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The KSRTC on Wednesday rolled out new Garuda (Volvo) buses which will connect Thiruvananthapuram to Ernakulam and Bangalore.

 The Thiruvananthapuram-Bangalore bus will leave Thiruvananthapuram at 3.15 p.m. and reach Bangalore at 4.55 a.m. the next day. The return trip from Bangalore will start at 4 p.m. and reach Thiruvananthapuram at 5.20 a.m the next day.

 The Ernakulam-Thiruvananthapuram trip will take four hours. The bus will leave Ernakulam at 6.30 a.m. and reach Thiruvananthapuram by 10.30 a.m. The return trip from Thiruvananthapuram is at 4.40 p.m. The bus will reach Ernakulam at 8.30 p.m.

 Transport Minister Mathew T. Thomas flagged off the new buses at the Central Bus Station, Thampanoor, on Wednesday.  The special features of the new buses include a bus body built to international standards, efficient electronic braking system, electronic air suspension system, tubeless tyres, push-back seats and a low-noise BS III CRDI engine. The number of stops amid trips have been minimised in order to maintain the schedule.  However, the buses would be stopped at places other than the regular bus stops if demanded by more than four passengers.
