PATHANAMTHITTA: Thousands of devotees witnessed the ‘kettukazhcha’ exhibits as part of the Meena Bharani festival at Thattayil Orippurathu Bhagavathi temple on Sunday.
The devotees belonging to all seven karas under the temple exhibited their ‘kettukazhcha’ pieces in front of the temple at 4 p.m. and circumambulated the ‘nalambalam’ with the craft exhibits.
The display concluded after being blessed by the Goddess in ‘jeevitha’, which was taken out of the temple to the place where the ‘kettukazhcha’ exhibits were placed.
After the ‘kettukazhcha’, ‘kalamezhuthum pattum’, ‘jeevitha’ procession and reception to the procession were held. Major set Kathakali was the special cultural event in the evening.
‘Garudan Thookam’, ‘thookam’ offerings: As part of Karthika festival of the temple, ‘Garudan Thookam’ and Kettukazhcha display will be held at 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. respectively on Monday.
The ‘thookam’ offerings by devotees will begin at 11 a.m. Around 200 devotees registered their names for the ‘thookam’ offering.
Meena Bharani at Valamchuzhi Devi Temple: ‘Kolamthullal’, ‘Alpindi’ vilakku and ‘jeevitha’ procession were the important programmes at Valamchuzhi Devi temple to be held as part of the Meena Bharani festival.
