THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former Praja Socialist Party MLA Advocate P Narayanan Thampi died at a private hospital at Neyyattinkara on Wednesday night. He was 84.

 Narayanan Thampi represented the Neyyattinkara Legislative Assembly from 1964 to 1966. He was an active worker of the Nair Service Society from 1957 onwards and was also a member of the NSS Director Board.

 Born to C V Padmanabha Pillai and B Eswari Pillai Thankachy in December 1925, Thampi served in the Armed Forces during 1946-47 as an officer and later worked in the Travancore State forces during 1947-49.  Narayanan Thampi had worked as the state secretary of Bharat Scouts and Guides.

 He is survived by wife K R Leela. The late Ashalatha, Hemalatha and Shyam Mohan are his children. Cremation will be held on the premises of his residence on Thursday at 1.30 p.m.
