Kadakampally Surendran reelected

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As expected, the CPM district conference which concluded here on Saturday unanimously reelected Kadakampally Surendran as district secretary for the second consecutive term

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As expected, the CPM district conference which concluded here on Saturday unanimously reelected Kadakampally Surendran as district secretary for the second consecutive term. The conference also elected a 41-member district committee and a 38-member delegates’ panel for the party state conference to be held here in February next year.

While four members were removed from the incumbent committee,  five new faces have found a place in the new district committee. The strength of the committee has been raised from 40 to 41.

Mohanan, H A Asharaf, D Jayaram and  Lalitha Sadasivan are the four members who were excluded from the committee on account of poor health.

The  five new faces inducted in the new committee are K S Sunil Kumar(DYFI), Puthenkada Vijayan, R Ramu, M G Meenambika and D K Murali.

The  other members of the  new district committee are as follows: Pirappancode Murali, Anavoor Nagappan, Koliyakodu Krishnan Nair, C Ajayakumar, V Sivankutty, C Jayanbabu, S K Ashari, V K Madhu, N Ratheendran, Kattakkada Sasi, K C Vikraman, G Rajan, K O  Habeeb, E G Mohanan, B S Rajiv, S S Rajalal, B Sathyan, S S Potti, Karamana Hari, P Rajendra kumar, Pulluvila Stanley, Thiruvallam Sivarajan, Venganoor Bhaskaran, M M Basheer, C K Hareendran, R Selvaraj, Vattavila Thankayan, Chettachal Sahadevan, J Arundhathi, G Raju, B P Murali, S Sundaresan, G Vamadevan, G Sadanandan and  V Jayaprakash.

The following are the panel of delegates selected for the State conference: Koliyakodu Krishnan Nair,

C Ajayakumar, V Sivankutty, C Jayanbabu, S K Ashari, V K Madhu, N Ratheendran, Kattakkada Sasi, Pushpalatha, Krishnakumari, J Arundhathi, S P Deepak, P Biju, K O Habeeb, S S Potti, K C Vikraman, B P Murali, Pulluvila Stanley, V N Murali, A Sampath, G Vinod, S Shajahan, Perayam Sasi, Puthankada Vijayan,  S Sasankan, V Rajendran, A A Rasheed, Karamana Hari, P Rajendrakumar, Vattavila Thankayyan, Kalliyoor Sreedharan, P Vamadevan Nair, D K Murali, Madavoor Anil, Sasikala Sivasankar, B S Rajeev, N Abhimanyu and  S Neelakandan.

The official faction has been able to give a semblance of justice in the selection of the district committee members giving no room for serious complaints of factional feud in the selection process by accommodating not less than 12 to 15 VS faction members.

But it has employed political wisdom and strategy in ensuring a near total decimation of the VS faction leaders in the panel of delegates to the state conference. Only two or three VS faction men have found a place in the delegates’ panel.

Though SFI state secretary P Biju has  found a  place in the delegates’ panel, he had not found a place in the district committee.

The precedent is to accommodate the state  office-bearers of frontal organisations  in the state committee. However,  DYFI state treasurer K S Sunilkumar has  found a place in the district committee.

In the three-day conference, 373 delegates representing 18 area committees in the district participated.

The conference adopted 30 resolutions including those calling for the setting up of Vizhinjam port, Capital city development and strengthening of Kudumbasree units.
