THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The second day of the All-India Police Aquatic Championship was just a dittoed version of day one, as Central Police forces lapped ahead of other state teams by many fathoms, thereby taking an unmatched lead in the scoring tally.

BSF called it a day with 81 points, much ahead of the arch rivals CRPF, who could only manage 61 points. The notable performance of the day came from Mandar Anand Rao of BSF who  won two individual gold medals and also partnered in his team’s victory in 4 x 200 m freestyle relay.

In 400 m individual medley, Mandar again won the gold. Silver medal was won by Bimal Hussain Poddar of BSF and Deepak Kumar Singh of CRPF bagged bronze. Mandar grabbed his second gold medal in 200 m freestyle event. Kalicharan Mahato of BSF came second. Surya P Sharma of CRPF finished third.

Arjun Muralidharan, the golden boy of BSF, asserted his mettle, finishing first in 50 m butterfly stroke. This is his second gold medal haul in two days. Puneet Rana of Haryana State force finished second and CRPF swimmer Rohit Kumar came third.

In 4 X 200 m freestyle relay, it was the team BSF which tapped the finishing board first, followed by CRPF and then CISF. In springboard diving, Babban Kumar of CRPF finished first, scoring an impressive 259.45 points. Himanshu Sharma of BSF finished second, and Rahul Mazumdar of CRPF came third.
