Asking the political parties to be cautious of the Muslim League fine-tuning its pre-partition tactics, Bharatheeya Vichara Kendram director and RSS ideologue P Parameswaran has said that they might put forward the demand for an autonomous region within Kerala.
In a statement issued here, he said that future generation will not forgive us if we either forget or wishfully imagine that it will not happen.
“To be forewarned is to be forearmed. Politicians who do not take the lessons of history seriously are least qualified to lead the people,” he opined.
He said that the current controversy centred around the policy and tactics of League was the direct result of lack of awareness of the new generation political and socio-cultural leaders’ about the activities in pre-partition India.
“The problem with the new-generation politicians and socio-cultural leaders is that they have not cared to study in depth the history of our freedom movement which resulted in the tragic partition of India.League leadership then and now successfully follow the policy of consolidating the Muslim community on the basis of certain demands in the name of ‘minority interests’, thereby creating a solid vote bank.
On the strength of the vote bank they put forward more and more demands which are political in nature.
Pursuing such demands more aggressively and cleverly exploiting the political ambition of the so-called secular parties and even individual leaders, League’s communalism acquires political legitimacy,” he pointed out.
On the one hand, Muslim League is acquiring political respectability by posing as a moderate political outfit, while a sizable chunk of society is exploiting the religious sentiments of the community by adopting extreme, even terrorist postures, he said.
“Muslim League cannot and will not do anything to alienate them. On the other hand, League itself will become more and more radicalised,” he said.
