Just a few more days remain for the curtains to go up for the ‘Viswa Malayala Mahotsavam’, which is expected to provide a platform for meaningful debates and dialogue on the literary, cultural and artistic traditions of the state.
Jointly organised by the Cultural Affairs Department and the Kerala Sahitya Akademi, the festival will be held at various venues in the city from October 30 to November 1. Cultural programmes, seminars, exhibitions and lectures are part of the three-day event, according to a statement issued by the government.
From October 25 to 28, programmes will be held at Gandhi Park, Kanakakkunnu grounds, the Corporation Park at Poojappura and Shangumugham to drum up publicity for the event.
President Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate the festival on October 30 at 10.30 am at University Senate Hall. Seminars are planned on all three days at the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium, VJT Hall, Kanakakkunnu Grounds, Museum Auditorium and the Panchayat Association Hall.
Conferences of Malayalam writers and writers from other languages, poets’ meet and staging of folk arts are among the programmes planned. Exhibition and sale of books and paintings and a caricature show are also planned in connection with the event, the organisers said.
