Malayalis must present a strong united front and come out in support of the ‘Viswa Malayala Mahotsavam’ to make a success of it, said Kazhakkoottam Najmudeen, Deseeya Malayala Vedi president. He said this while inaugurating ‘Kerala Piravi Sandesha Sammelanam’ and a get-together of student talents in the city on Tuesday.

The Vedi,  an organisation to promote the Malayalam language, held discussions for students to introduce them to the works of prominent literary figures in Malayalam such as Joseph Mundasseri, Vayalar Rama Varma and Nalappat Narayana Menon.

Poet Surekha L, Vedi treasurer Tirumala Satyadas and Velliman Pangode were among those who spoke at the function.

The three-day ‘Viswa Malayala Mahotsavam’, which is expected to provide a platform for debates and dialogue on the literature, art and culture of Kerala,  will be inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee on October 30 at 10.30 am at University Senate Hall.
