THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The friends of C Saratchandran, activist-documentary maker who died in a train mishap, are organising a remembrance of the latter on his death anniversary on April 1 at Gorky Bhavan, at 11.30 am. The Russian Cultural Centre here is also associating with the event.

 A screening of the documentary ‘The Third Eye of Resistance’, directed by Razi, would be held prior to the function, at 9 am at Kalabhavan theatre. The Sarat memorial lecture would be delivered by K P Sasi. Sherry, the director of ‘Adimadhyantham’, and his team would be felicitated at the event for winning the National Awards mention. This would be followed by the screening of the short film ‘Last Leaf.’

 As part of the Nottam Travelling Film Festival, which was pioneered by Sarat and his friend Baburaj years back and which gradually came to a stop, ‘Last Page’ directed by Avala Unnikrishnan would be screened.

After this,  ‘Radiation Stories’, directed by R P Amudhan, would be screened.

Commemoration

A commemoration meeting on the occasion of the second death anniversary of documentary film-maker C Saratchandran will be held on April 2 at Poorna Hotel Hall at 10.30 am. At the meeting, to be presided over by Thirumala Chandran, many eminent people, including Bichu Thirumala, Kilimanoor Ratnakaran, Thumpamon Thankappan, M Venukumar, V Ramdas, Neelalohita Das and M Vijayakumar will speak.
