Here is a caution for the authorities concerned and  the people’s representatives! If steps are not taken to rehabilitate the people living in the coastal area, a good number of people will be washed away. With the sea turning rougher every minute, the residents who have no place to move risk losing their lives in these crumbling huts.

On Sunday, the waves had reached till the doorsteps of Louishus’s home. A day has passed and on Monday, one could see the waters engulfing a good portion of the house. Books and belongings were floating in the sea.

The local people alleged that even now no officials had taken any measures to help them. They also said that within two days, there was every chance of the entire house being washed away.

Louishus’s wife Maria and their two children Millen and Malu has no other option but to move to save their lives.

According to Kunjumon, who lives nearby, the books and other belongings of two children of classes Plus-one and Plus-two were completely washed away in the waves.

Several more houses along the Valiyathura coast are in danger and which, according to the local people, could collapse any time. For the past few days, the water had rushed into the houses that were much close to the sea. And all these days, people were starving, but somehow trying to feed their children.

According to the local Corporation councillor Tony Oliver, necessary action will be taken as soon as possible to provide new shelter for the people who had lost their houses.
