Cultural Affairs Minister K C Joseph will inaugurate the birth centenary celebrations of poet M P Appan at VJT Hall on Friday.
The event is scheduled for 10 am. Kerala Sahitya Academy chairman Perumbadavom Sreedharan will preside over the function. R Ramachandran Nair will be chief guest on the occasion. Dr D Benjamin will deliver the keynote address. Writer Akbar Kakkattil will be moderator.
Dr Kurias Kumbalakkuzhi will deliver a lecture on ‘Literary Life of M P Appan’, Dr M R Thampan on ‘The Prose Works of M P Appan’, Dr Shornur Karthikeyan on the poetry of Appan and Dr Ajithan Menoth on the children’s poetry by Appan.
In the afternoon, there will be a recital of Appan’s poems.
Poet Sugathakumari will inaugurate a poets’ meet later in the evening. P Narayanakurup will preside over the function. Students who wish to participate in the event should register their names at 9 am on Friday.
