The Atlas-Film critics awards 2012 have been announced. ‘Celluloid’ has been selected as the best film. Director of ‘Celluloid’ Kamal has been adjudged as the best director.
‘Ozhimuri’ directed by Madhupal is the second best film. Lal who played the lead role in ‘Ozhimuri’ has been selected for the best actor award. Swetha Menon was selected for the best actress award for her brilliant performance in ‘Ozhimuri’ and ‘Ithramathram’.
Announcing the awards, Atlas-Jewellery group chairman M M Ramachandran, jury chairman, Film Critics Association chairman Thekkinkadu Joseph and general secretary Balan Thirumala said that Vineeth has been selected for the second best actor award for his performance in the films ‘Attakatha’ and ‘Bavoottiyude namathil’.
Performances in ‘Celluloid’ and ‘My Boss’ fetched Mamtha Mohandas the second best actress award.
Nedumudi Venu bagged the ‘’Chalachithra Ratna’ title for his comprehensive contributions to Malayalam filmdom. ‘Chalachithra Prathibha’ title will be given to Jerry Amaldev, Jayabharathi, and Poojappura Ravi.
The producer of the best film will be given the cash award of Rs 1 lakh besides memento and citation.
The best director, actor and actress will be given cash prizes of Rs 25,000 each and a memento and citation.
The second best actor and second best actress will be given cash awards of Rs 10,000 each.
Other award winners are: Best child artiste - Master Dhanamjay Premjith ( Pratheekshayode), Master Minon - ( 101 questions), Best lyricist- Vayalar Sarathchandravarma - Ayalum Njanum Thammil, Best music director- M Jayachandran ( Celluloid), Best singers - Sreeram and Vaikom Vijayalakshmi (Celluloid), Best cinematographer - Azhakappan, Best editor - Arunkumar Aravind, Best sound recordist - Ajith K George, Best art director - Suresh Kollam
Best Debut artiste - Dikhar Salman (Usthad Hotel), Best Debut artiste (female) - Malavika Menon (916), Best Debut director - Jayan Cheriyan (Pappilio Budha), Best popular film - ‘Ayalaum, Njanum thammil’. Award for best article on cinema - A Chandrasekhar (Yuvathwam Thedunna Chalachitra Bhavukathwam).
Jagadeesh and Bheeman Raghu have been selected for special jury awards.
