Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash on Monday said that the government was moving ahead with the Zero Landless project and one lakh families would get three cents of land each by August. “We are in the final stages of providing land to one lakh families. So far, 75,000 plots have been separated,’’ he told reporters here while detailing the achievements of his department in the last two years.

With regard to the ambitious project of ‘smart villages’, he said 14 villages have been identified. “As part of the project, the officials will be given special training,’’ the Minister said.

Prakash said that Kerala became the first state in the country to have all the districts linked to the network of e-districts. With the state-wide roll-out of the e-district programme, the government aims at bringing in transparency and efficiency in the delivery of government services, he added.

He said 30 new village offices were set up, resulting in the creation of 180 posts.  Twelve new taluks were also created during this time, he said.

The Minister said that 11,399 possession certificate and 4606 mutation have been made through RELIS (Revenue Land Information System), an online software to manage the land transactions.

Govt Keen on Aranmula Airport

Stressing that the government’s desire is that the Aranmula airport project should materialise, Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash on Monday said that the government is prepared to give exemption with regard to excess land at Aranmula for the airport project.

“The government has discretionary powers with regard to giving exemption to excess land. The Cabinet can take a decision on this,’’ he told reporters here.

Prakash also stated that the project was given the green signal by the previous LDF government.

“Those who now raise their voice against the project now should have thought about it before giving their consent for starting such a project,’’ he said. The Taluk Land Board of Kozhencherry had declared 132 hectares of land as excess land and directed the Revenue officials concerned to take possession of the excess land, invoking the relevant provisions in the Kerala Land Reforms Act.

Prakash also said that the land of Halcyon Castle at Kovalam has not been given to anyone. ‘’No mutation has been done in the land related to the castle. The mutation was with respect to the land that Ravi Pillai had purchased,’’ he said.
