Swasthi School of Music inaugurated

‘’There is a combination of treatment against cancer, with medicine and music.  Arts and yoga keeps you fit and young and helps in keeping away a number of diseases including cancer,’’ said Union Minister for Road Transport and Highway Oscar Fernandes.

 He was delivering the inaugural address at the inauguration of Swasthi School of Music at the Mascot Hotel here on Sunday.

 He said that the Swasthi Charitable Foundation has opened another chapter for those who have a great liking for music and dance, which is a way to keep oneself fit.

 The school is an initiative of the Swasthi Charitable Foundation, a voluntary organisation for charitable activities and social welfare, chaired by Jacob Punnoose IPS. The school is aimed at providing training sessions free of cost for singers and struggling musicians and promoting them.

 The inauguration was done by the minister by playing a veena.  He also released the audio CD of  ‘Sree Guru Gita’, the music manifestation of ‘shlokas’ in Skandapurana, on the occasion.

 Oscar Fernandes, who is known for his artistic abilities, used a mouth organ to render a song at the function for his wife Blossom Mathias Prabhu who celebrated her birthday a day ago. On the programmes of Swasthi Charitable Society for the welfare of migrant labourers,  Fernandes said: ‘’Kerala is a Dubai for several workers from other parts of India where the minimum wage per day is Rs 70. In Kerala, it is up to Rs 200 to 250. But at the same time, life expenses here are also high.”

 Singer G Venugopal, actor Jagadish and students of popular dancer Tara Kalyan performed at the event. Health and Devaswom Minister V S Sivakumar, Palode Ravi, Pirappancode Murali, P H Kurian,  Abey George and Madhupal K also were present at the function.
