Sankaranarayanan Awards Announced

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The C Sankaranarayanan Society for Media Studies on Wednesday announced the winners of the C Sankaranarayanan Awards for the year 2014 in a function held at the Press Club here on Wednesday.

Two media awards instituted in memory of the journalist will be given to Jayan Menon of ‘Malayala Manorama’ in the print media section and Vidhu Vincent of Media One TV. The award is instituted in the name of Sankaranarayan, who died in 2009 while being the resident edition of Jaihind TV’s Kochi bureau.

Jayan Menon was chosen for the award for his series titled ‘Personallayi Parayuva’ by a jury consisting of Kerala Press Academy former chairman S R Sakthidharan, Sankaranarayanan Society for Media Studies chairman Sunnykutty Abraham and journalist Gouridasan Nair. 

Vidhu Vincent bagged the honour for her report on Chakaliyar community by a jury comprising writer Paul Zacharia and journalist Jacob George.

The awards carry a cash award Rs 25,000 and citation which will be presented to the winners at Kesari Hall, Pulimoodu, by Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala on December 22, the fifth death anniversary of Sankaranarayanan.
