THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Girls are often portrayed as weaklings, who always have to bear the brunt in a relationship. It is commonly perceived that heartaches and despair are meant only for girls. But Aravind Vijayakumar in his debut short film says a different story. In his ‘God Bless Nithya’ he delineates the story of a girl who pays no heed to a boy’s feelings. The short film has gone viral in YouTube with around 109,690 hits within 2 months of its release.

“‘God Bless Nithya’ is inspired from a real-life incident that happened somebody I know,” says Aravind. Aravind, who just completed his engineering degree from Hyderabad, is no novice in the film circuit. He and his group of friends who dream to become a part of film industry some day have been doing promotional works for films for some years now.

“Just like any youth who has a penchant for cinema, my ultimate aim is also to be a part of the industry. So this short film may serve as a stepping stone. Deepak Dilip, who essays the lead role has already signed 3 Tamil films,” says Aravind.

The film delves deep into the lives of two youngsters who fall in love with each other. The girl, who was genuine in the relationship at first, falls slowly for the words of her friends. They advised her to have some fun on the side. Hence, she started seeing others while taking her first love for granted.

Soon he gets to know about her vile ways. Though he was heartbroken he decides to avenge for her acts. ‘God Bless Nithya’ is the story of that revenge.

Cine artiste Sonu Satheeshkumar essays the role of Nithya, while Kottayam Rasheed does a cameo act as her father.

Aishwarya Devi Ajith, Veena CV Nair, Chithu Monilal, Kiran, Sandhu San  and Aravind Radhakrishnan are the other actors of the film.

Rushy Babu and Jayadev Nair have cranked the camera for the film which was penned by Govind Raj (Director of hit short film ‘’David Kanda Penkutty’’). Rushy Babu, who was an assistant cinematographer for the blockbuster movie, ‘Maya Mohini has also done the editing. Jithu S Prem and Vijaya Sooryan are the sound designers.

Aravind says though romance and heartbreaks are themes that are repeated many times over in shortfilms, he has tried to bring a unique edge to the film.
