Operation Kubera: Four Raids Conducted

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As part of ‘Operation Kubera’, the drive launched by the state police to track down illegal money lenders, the police  carried out a total of four raids on Sunday, said DGP K S Balasubramaniam in a statement.

As of now around 13,376 raids have been conducted across the state in which 2,441 cases were registered and as many as 1,323 offenders were arrested, the DGP added.The steps to nab illegal and exorbitant money lenders will continue in the following days, on the basis of the tip off from the public, the DGP said.

Clean Campus Drive: Five Held

State police nabbed five persons on Sunday following the raids carried out as part of ‘Safe campus - Clean campus’, a drive launched to track down people engaged in the sale of pan masala, liquor and drugs across school limits.

According to the Director-General of Police K S Balasubramaniam, around five cases were registered after having carried out 46 raids  on the same day.

“Including the raids on Sunday, as many as 3,926 offenders have been arrested so far, since the raids began on May 30. A total of 21,763 raids have been conducted during this period and as many as 4,055 cases were registered,” said the DGP.

He said that the raids to nab the people who engage in the sale of cigarette, pan masala, liquor and drugs across school limits will continue across the state in the following days.

“The school authorities and others, who get information regarding such illegal sale, can pass the information to the police”, the DGP said.
