Writers’ and Literary Fests From Today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 10th International Writers Festival India organised by Kafla Intercontinental and the Indian Ruminations Literary Festival will be held at Gandhi Bhavan here on Saturday and Sunday. Author Puthussery Ramachandran will inaugurate the festival on Saturday at 10 am.

The festival is themed on Vasudhaiva Kudumbakam, a Gandhian concept for world peace. It is jointly organised by India Intercontinental Cultural Association, Punjab; Indian Ruminations, Kerala Gandhi Smarak Nidhi and Shruti School of Music, Guwahati. As many as 150 writers from India and abroad would turn up for both festivals.

At the venue named in memory of Prof B Hridayakumari, the international literary festival will be held and the Indian Ruminations festival is at the venue in the name of Prof Ayyappa Panicker. The inaugural ceremony will commemorate Hridayakumari.

On the first day, the Indian Ruminations poetry award will be presented to P A Naushad by G N Panicker during a seminar. Eight books are to be released on the day at various programmes. The concluding day will have a candle-light vigil, to be held at Gandhi Smrithi Mandapam at Gandhi Bhavan. Paper presentation, book release, seminars, cultural evening and poetry reading session are scheduled over the  two days.
