Restaurant Opens Organic Division at Kuravankonam

The vegetables required for the division’s daily use is bought from Thanal organic vegetable bazaar

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  Wishbone restaurant at Kuravankonam, managed by dietician Lalitha Appukuttan, on Wednesday hosted the inauguration of its new organic division titled ‘Wishbone Organic Dishes Gala’ and the ‘Wishbone Health Club’.

Minister for Health V S Sivakumar and MP Shashi Tharoor inaugurated the ‘Organic Dishes Gala’ and ‘Wishbone Health Club’ respectively.

Poet Sugathakumari was the chief guest at the event. Praising the efforts of the dietician, Sugathakumari said that during a time when even the air we breath is polluted, such an organic restaurant is a noble venture.

Wishing the best for the new venture, Shashi Tharoor said there was a need to realise that people are adding more toxins to the body by using pesticide-treated vegetables.  “ We were always a consumer state, importing all our essential requirements, including vegetables, fruits and other food from other states. But in the past few months, we have been able to make the state more self-sufficient in organic farming, increasing it to 75 percent. I hope such a venture can boost up the organic movement,” Health Minister V S Sivakumar said. 

Elaborating further on the organic restaurant, Lalitha Appukuttan said that the vegetables required for the division’s daily use is Bought from Thanal organic vegetable bazaar. The health club conducts frequent awareness sessions for ladies.

Though the club has been active for some time now, a formal launch was done today,” Lalitha Appukuttan added.
