THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Putting an end to uncertainties, Cyberdome- the flagship PPP project initiated by the Home Department- will become a reality  with Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala  officially inaugurating the facility here at the Amphitheater at Technopark on February 17. The much-touted project was in troubled waters for quite some time owing to fund constraints  and issues pertaining to partnership with the private firms.

The state-of-the-art facility will come up at the 2,500 square feet space at Thejaswini building here at Technopark. The project was mooted by the Home Department to deter cyber attacks and strengthen the cyber security system.

The facility will engage in Internet monitoring, virtual policing, automated threat intelligence in real-time, cyber forensics, virtual courts and developing safe online surfing applications.

After the project announcement in 2014, several technical wizards had evinced keen interest to associate with the project to  ensure collective efforts to combat potential cyber threats.

Initially, nearly 500 people and 30 companies from across the globe had shown interest to render their intelligent and technical support by associating with the Kerala Police. However, the project later landed in trouble due to fund crunch. Though the project was initially envisaged at a cost of `2 crore, it was cut down later to `60 lakh.
