Battle of Talent at Naipunya Skill Fiesta

The fiesta has provided a platform for the ITI students to hone their skills

A platform to showcase their skills, is the dream of every talented youngster and that is what Government ITI, Kalamassery provided them. Young ITI students from Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur Palakad and Kottayam converged here to display their skills in the various trades that they were aiming for their diplomas in.

“This is a platform for skilled people to meet and explore. We are grateful to the organisers for providing us with such an opportunity,” says Vishnu Babu, a participant at the fitter trade competitions from Victory ITI, Thrissur. “The programmes should get their prominence and the organisers should create awareness about the aim of such skill fiestas,” adds Nithish P S of Arakuzha ITI, Muvattupuzha, who was busy with the second phase of central zone plumbing trade competitions.

“More than being a platform for us, the Fiesta helped us to befriend experts from different trades and also we got the opportunity to interact with skilled individuals. This is something to be treasured,” said Vishnu Sukumaran of Government ITI, Ettumanoor.

Principal of Government ITI Kalamassery, C P Vijayakumar, who is also the convenor of skill fiesta, points out that Naipunya skill fiesta is the first and foremost step which aims at guiding skilled youngsters to international level competitions later.” K Venugopalan, a technical delegate of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), proudly says, “This is an excellent platform where one can evaluate and hone skills.” “The state government has invested in programme since it realises the significance of the need to polish the skills of these young technicians. Kerala is the first state to organise such a competition and NSDC is helping the state in its venture,” he added.

The fiesta which began on January 4 will be on till 11. Three zonal meets are being held at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kozhikode simultaneously. The competitions are being held in 12 trades. The venues for Central zone competitions include Government ITI, Government ITI for Women, Foodcraft Institution, Kalamassery and Government ITI and Government ITI for Women, Chalakudy. Nypunyam International Skill Summit and Skill Fiesta will be held at Thiruvananthapuram on February 5,6 and 7.
