THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala police are preparing a database in digital format of the students who have participated in the Student Police Cadet(SPC) project since its inception in 2010 for addressing the issues which will be faced by the students in their personal life and career, State Police Chief T P Senkumar has said.

He was addressing the passing-out cadets of the student police during the valedictory function of the sixth summer camp of the SPC, organised at the SAP camp here on Tuesday.

"Apart from creating a database, the police had also created a mobile number exclusively for student cadets to call the police for registering any queries, complaints and other grievances. The number is 9847800100. After calling this number, the students can share their problems and other information", Senkumar said.

He also said that the Union Government had already begun to extend the SPC project to other states. The Union Government was also planning to extend the limits of students participating in the project from ninth standard to plus two.

At present, only the students of class eight and class nine in the schools in the state are allowed to enrol in SPC. Actor Nivin Pauly and director Abrid Shine were the chief guests at the function.  They also shared their experiences with the Kerala Police during the pre-production of the film 'Action Hero Biju'. Of the 40,000 SPCs, 604 cadets were selected for the one-week summer camp.

During the camp, the students were trained physically and mentally by organising several programmes. Earlier in the day, a passing-out parade was also held.

Student Police Cadet founder and nodal officer P Vijayan also offered felicitations and a special interactive session was held with the Director General of Fire and Rescue Services, Loknath Behera.
