Kozhikode Leads with 758 Points in Kerala School Kalolsavam

On the fifth day of the 56th edition of the Kerala School Kalolsavam, Kozhikode district once again showed signs of continuing its triumphant journey by maintaining a lead of seven points.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  On the fifth day of the 56th edition of the Kerala School Kalolsavam, Kozhikode district once again showed signs of continuing its triumphant journey by maintaining a lead of seven points.

At the time of filing this report, Kozhikode scored 758 points from 194 events. Palakkad, which had an early lead when the festival began, is seven points behind, with 751 points. Malapuram, Kannur and Ernakulam occupied the next positions. In the high school category, 12 competitions were held, out of which the results of nine were published. In the HSS section, 11 out of the 16 competitions were announced. Including Sanskrit and Arabic, there were 31 competitons on day five.

In the high school general category Kozhikode scored 338 points, and 420 points in the HSS general category, while Palakkad scored 334 and 417 points respectively.

In the high school general catergory, BSS Gurukulam Higher Secondary School, Alathur (Palakkad) was in the top slot with 78 points, followed by Durga HSS Kanhangad (Kasargod) with 63 points.

MKNMHS Kumaramangalam (Idukki) with 62 points was in the third slot.

NS Boys HSS, Mannar (Alappuzha) with 82 points, MKNMHS, Kumaramangalam (Idukki) with 80 and Durga HSS, Kanhangad (Kasargod) with 78 points were in the first, second and third slots respectively in the higher secondary section.

By evening, 71 out of the 89 items in the high school general category were completed. In the HSS general category, out of the total 105 events, 83 were completed by evening.In the Oppana competitions for girls in the high school general category, Ameya P of  Silver Hills HSS (Kozhikode), Shibli Suhaiba  N of AKMHSS, Kottoor (Malappuram) and  Abhisurya Suresh of Durga HSS, Kanhangad, claimed the first three places respectively.

In the monoact competition in the high school general category, Amrutha Varsha of Samooham HS, North Paravoor (Ernakulam), Niharika S Mohan of Ramavilasom HSS, Chokli (Kannur) and  Chaithra K of VHMHSS, Morayur (Malappuram) were with three claimants of the first three places respectively.

In the mimicry competition for boys in the high school general category, Abison Baiju of Government HS, Kanjirappally (Kottayam),  Vishnu Rajan P of Kunnamangalam HSS, Kunnamangalam (Kozhikode) and Arjun S Nair of CSHSS, Thiruvalla (Pathanamthitta) claimed the first three positions.

Depute Enough Cops, VACB Told

Thrissur: The Thrissur Vigilance Court on Friday directed the VACB Director to depute sufficient number of police personnel in the venues of State Kalolsavam and to ensure that there is no room for any malpractice or corruption. Submitting that Youth Festivals at district and state levels were smeared with graft, the petitioner had enclosed copies of several complaints to VACB Director about the mafia setup prevalent in the festival venues.
