THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A few hours after the grand opening of S S Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘Baahubali-2’ in nearly 400 screens across the state on Friday, a pirated version of the movie has appeared in a website which is quite notorious for uploading new Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam movies.
Sources said the version has already been downloaded by several users.
According to Cyberdome, the cyber wing of Kerala Police, the pirated version was found in www.tamil.mv.mx and they have traced the pirated version using their Piracy Tracker software. A Cyberdome officer said the producers of ‘Baahubali’ would be appraised about the movie’s online leak.
Efforts are on to remove the link.
“We detected the uploading of the pirated version as we have been monitoring the website. Earlier, we also detected the uploading of a pirated version of Rajnikanth-starrer ‘Kabali’. Piracy has become a serious threat for movie makers now”, said a cyber expert of the Cyberdome who requested anonymity.
Earlier, a pirated version of Malayalam movie ‘Sakhavu’, starring Nivin Pauly had appeared on the same website and the cybercell registered a case based on a complaint from the producer.
Baahubali-2, The Conclusion, was released on Friday across 395 screens in both Malayalam and Tamil versions. The much-hyped film has opened to positive reviews and is expected to set a new box office record of Rs 1,000 crore.
