THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: From street magic to poetry to story-telling, the Soorya Festival is offering a stage for varied art forms and interests starting Thursday at ‘Arangu’ at Thycaud. ‘Arangu’ will cover 11 events over 11 days starting with ‘Chiriyarangu’ which will see participation, among others, by Sukumar, Krishna Poojappura and Dr Thomas Mathew.

December 22, Friday, has been set aside for ‘Kunjarangu’ where children will recite poems. Kapila will perform Nangyarkoothu on December 23 at ‘Kootharangu.’ RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan’s widow K K Rema will share her painful experiences at ‘Smrithiyarangu’ on December 24. On Christmas day, Mustan Ali will thrill audiences with his street magic at ‘Thurvarangu.’

Dr N Gopalakrishnan will deliver a talk at Arivarangu on December 26. On December 27, the event is ‘Paatarangu’ attended by Manaveeyam Theruvorakootam and Ananthapuri Ananthakrishnan. Preeth will perform mentalism and magic at Naatarangu on December 28. Magician Raja Murthy will perform at Mizhiyarangu on December 29, while leading writers will participate in ‘Kathayarangu’ on December 30. The event will wind up with the Kaviyarangu attended by poets on December 31.
