AIIMS classes will start from next academic year: Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare

VIJAYAWADA: Academic functioning of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) set to be commenced from the 2018 - 19 academic year. Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare J P Nadda has assured to grant permission to start MBBS classes at AIIMS. During a meeting with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at his residence in Undavalli near here on Tuesday, the Union Minister said that the ministry would complete inspection of the temporary campus, and approve for the commencement of class from 2018-19 academic year. 

He also allowed for the up gradation of 11 medical colleges under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) and the starting of super speciality services in all teaching hospitals.
He told the Chief Minister that sincere efforts will be made for rendering justice to those students who lost seats in Fathima Medical College in Kadapa.
Nadda praised the achievements of the State in healthcare, especially the move to universalise health coverage. 

Nadda also made special mentions of various health schemes including NTR Vaidya Seva, Arogya Raksha, NTR Uchitha Vaidya Pariksha being implemented by the state government and lauded the efforts made to subsidise the costs of quality health care. He also appreciated the MR vaccination drive, which covered 92 lakh children in nine days.
