VIJAYAWADA: Former Congress MLA from Chittoor C K Jayachandra Reddy alias CK Babu, along with his wife Lavanya, joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of state party president K Hari Babu at the state unit office here on Tuesday. Former Union Minister D Purandeswari, who was present on the occasion, welcomed the new members. A week ago, Purandeswari visited the C K Babu’shouse in Tirupati and formally welcomed him into the party.
A three-time MLA--two times as Congress candidate and once as an independent from Chittoor, CK Babu did not contest the election in 2014 but extended his support to YSRCP candidate Jangalapalli Srinivasulu who lost the seat to TDP’s D K Satyaprabha.
“I was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programmes and initiatives for the welfare of poor. I believe India will become a New India under his (PM Modi’s) leadership,” said C K Babu. He also maintained that the saffron party is creating ripples in AP and that the State will develop under the NDA regime.
