VIJAYAWADA: The first-of-its-kind robotic animal show for Vijayawada residents is proving to be a crowd-puller. The animal enthusiasts in city, who do not have any opportunity to be in the vicinity of wild animals, are having a gala time at the month-long handloom expo at Swaraj Maidan, where the show is being orgnaised.

From hisses of a snake to bellowing of an alligator, every movement by the animals is being managed by advanced sensor systems. The sensors sense approaching footsteps and start making all-kinds of noises with almost real gestures. Children at the show are delighted upon being touched by the tusker at the expo with its trunk. Roaring of lions and tigers as visitors pass by puts a scare on them.

For the inquisitive minds, the visit is also an educational experience as details such as animals’ habitat and their biological names are mentioned in front of the exhibits.

V Jyotsna, a 14-year-old, expressed her joy at the event: “I have never seen anything like the robotic animals, which are so realistic. It is a real good experience and I am quite happy to witness few creatures that are extinct and some animals rarely found in our zoos and animal parks.  The texture of their skin, eyes and body movements were akin to actual wild animals.” .

“Earlier, we used to go to circus shows where wild animals performed. That is not the case anymore as performance by them has been banned,” K Ramesh from Vijayawada said. “The 3d creature show is really fun and pleasing.Expos like these should be conducted more often so that children can have more fun.”

The 3D animal club incharge, Phani, said that visitors were really pleased to have witnessed something like this in city. “This is the first time a 3D robotic show is being organised in Vijayawada and second time in the State.”
