Internationally acclaimed Kuchipudi dancer Achutamanasa has been selected by the International Dance Council to perform at the 51st World Congress on Dance Research in Athens.

VIJAYAWADA: Internationally acclaimed Kuchipudi dancer Achutamanasa has been selected by the International Dance Council to perform at the 51st World Congress on Dance Research in Athens, Greece, from July 4-8. Over 400 dance teachers, choreographers, researchers, and journalists from five continents will attend the event. It will feature performances, discussions on latest research reports, lectures and video projections.

“I sent a video presentation to them and when they selected me, my happiness knew no bounds,” Achutamanasa said at a press conference held at Gantasala Sangeeta Patashala here on Sunday. The 29-year-old dancer who performs all forms of dance, is the first Indian to perform at the 70 Years of Freedom Celebrations of Turkmenistan in 2017 at the invitation of the government of the Central Asian country. “When we chanted Vandemataram as part of our performance there, the audience joined the chorus. It was a thrilling moment,” she said.

She also performed as part of an ensemble in International Partnership Summit-2018 and Lepakshi Festival 2018 which were attended by Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister  N Chandrababu Naidu Achutamanasa, an engineering graduate, landed a job at TCS during campus selections in third year of her college.  However, she decided to pursue her passion after graduating and went on to bag several awards.
