VIJAYAWADA: The agonised film buffs of the city were partially relieved on Saturday as the multiplexes screened the new releases in Hindi and English languages.

On Saturday evening, the multiplexes, such as INOX cinemas and PVR: Ripples, Vijayawada, witnessed nominal rush as city film lovers queued up to watch the Anushka Sharma starer ‘Pari’  and English movies, such as ‘Black Panther’, ‘Death Wish’, ‘Red Sparrow’ and ‘The Shape of Water’.

“The indefinite strike of film producers may not have much impact during this month, as this season is considered as examination season. Moreover, there are no big Telugu film releases until March 30, when Ram Charan’s ‘Rangasthalam 1985’ is scheduled to be released,’’ said a proprietor of a single screen theatre.

For record, in all 200 screens in the Vijayawada city and in the Krishna district kept their shutters downed on Friday, following the indefinite strike call given by the Film Producers’ Council, opposing the virtual print fee (VPF) levied by the digital service providers (DSPs), UFO and QUBE.
