CMO to be housed in 46th floor of Andhra Pradesh’s permanent Secretariat

VIJAYAWADA:  The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) will be located in the 46th floor at the permanent Secretariat coming up in Amaravati. The CMO will have all facilities including Amaravati capital city aerial view and helipad atop the structure. Foreign dignitaries can reach the CM’s office directly through the helipad situated on the top of the building.Municipal Administration Minister and vice-chairman of Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) P Narayana said that five towers would be constructed for the permanent Secretariat coming up in Amaravati.

While, four towers will have 40 floors each, the tower accommodating CMO will have 46 floors.When the issue of capital development came up for discussion in the AP Legislative Assembly on Saturday, the minister said that the London-based Foster + Partners architects had submitted the final designs of the structures. He said the tender process for construction of the buildings would be started by the end of April.

When BJP floor leader P Vishnu Kumar Raju pointed out that the State government had spent huge amounts of money on construction of the Interim Government Complex, the minister defended it saying the buildings would be used for commercial purposes or for housing IT firms after the administration was shifted to the permanent Secretariat. Several MLAs from the ruling party targeted the Centre for release of meagre funds to the State towards construction of the capital city.

 “Though PM Narendra Modi promised to extend all help to the State for construction of the best capital city, he forgot the same and released only Rs 1,500 crore. Is it enough for developing capital city?” a TDP legislator asked. Stating that funds to a tune of Rs1.07 lakh crore was required for the overall development of the capital city, Narayana said that they had sent the Detailed Project Reports to the Centre seeking Rs 11,600 crore for infrastructure and buildings in Amaravati.
