It’s official: Lakshminarayana to float party on November 26

Speaking to TNIE, the retired IPS officer said the party will be launched in Hyderabad on November 26.

VIJAYAWADA: Setting to rest speculation about his political career, former CBI joint director VV Lakshminarayana has decided to launch his own political outfit and also contest the forthcoming Parliamentary and Assembly elections.

Speaking to TNIE, the retired IPS officer said the party will be launched in Hyderabad on November 26. The details, including its agenda and organisational structure among others, would be revealed on the same day. Though rumours are agog that the party’s name would be ‘Jana Dhwani’, Lakshminarayana refused to reveal anything and said all would be known on November 26. Asked why he wants to float a political outfit instead of joining other parties, he shot back, “Is there any restriction on starting a political party?”Lakshminarayana said he is confident of his decision to float a political party.

On being pointed out that there are hardly four months left for the elections and asked if he was going to contest them, he questioned, “Why not?” Lakshminarayana said elections come every five years and there is plenty of time for him to launch his political party.

Before voluntary retirement, Lakshminarayana started visiting different parts of the State and interacted with various people — farmers, middle-class people, students, employees.

He visited the areas affected by cyclone Titli and interacted with the victims and submitted a report to the State government explaining the ground reality and suggested some long-term and short-term measures.
A native of Kurnool, he emphasised the need to address issues being raised by the farming community in Rayalaseema.

Lakshminarayana’s approach is different from others. They launched the party first and then sought to reach out to the people. But in the former bureaucrat’s case, he is doing it in reverse.

Earlier in October, during his visit to Tirupati, he highlighted the need to rejuvenate democracy, zero budget politics and all-round development at grassroots level.

The agenda and plans that are going to be unveiled on November 26 are most likely to feature all these aspects. The emergence of another political party in the State is going to make the ensuing elections interesting.
