Pawan Kalyan slams CM, DGP for not providing security to Sena

Stating that the DGP is not taking all these issues into account or acting upon the request for security, he said if anything happened to him or his people, the DGP has to own the responsibility.

VIJAYAWADA: Expressing dismay over the lack of response from DGP RP Thakur and the State government over the request to provide security to senior party leader Nadendla Manohar even after one month, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan has sought an explanation from Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Addressing a well-attended public meeting at Mandapeta in East Godavari district on Friday, the Jana Sena chief minced no words in targeting Naidu for resorting to such tactics against Opposition party leaders. “Do not forget how you suffered when Z category status was removed to you when Rajasekhara Reddy was the Chief Minister and how you got it back after a request made to then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Why do you want to employ similar tactics?” he questioned.

Pointing out at road mishap to his convoy a couple of days ago when a lorry hit the vehicle of his bodyguards, Kalyan said hours later, in Hyderabad, a sand-laden lorry hit the car in which Nadendla Manohar was travelling. He luckily escaped unhurt. “We did not make it a political issue such as YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and left it to the police. However, if it was found that the ruling party was behind it, we will not remain silent and confront them in a democratic manner,” he said.

Stating that the DGP is not taking all these issues into account or acting upon the request for security, he said if anything happened to him or his people, the DGP has to own the responsibility.

The Jana Sena chief started his last-leg of his tour of East Godavari district and will be taking up another novel public outreach programme on Saturday (November 24).  He will be travelling in Pallevelugu bus from Rajahmundry to Rampachodavaram and interact with tribals, who got displaced due to irrigation projects. Earlier, he travelled in a train from Vijayawada to Tuni for reaching out to public and knowing their problems.

At 1 pm, he along with party leaders will set out from Rajahmundry in the bus and travel to Rampachodavaram. He will interact with people at Gudala, Korukonda, Gokavaram and address a public meeting at Rampachodavaram.

“The main objective is to experience the difficulties the tribals face daily, as Palle Velugu bus is their only mode of transport. During the journey, the focus will be on knowing the ground reality at the places where the displaced tribals are being rehabilitated,” Nadendla Manohar told TNIE. He observed that most of the tribals have lost their lands, which is the only source of income for them, and they are in dire straits. “Our effort is to know firsthand their difficulties and find a solution,” he said.
