CHENNAI: Off-spinner Jalaj Saxena (4/35) and medium-pacer R Rohit (3/7) bowled in tandem to help Young Stars beat Alwarpet CC by 134 runs in a TNCA fourth round Senior Division Elite Group league match, at SSN College grounds on Sunday.

Alwarpet were comfortably placed at 80/2 in 19.3 overs, but suddenly collapsed to 98/6 in the space of 9.3 overs. They never recovered after that. Young Stars got eight points from this successful outing.

Danush shines

S Danush of TSPA with a timing of  00:28.60 created a meet record in the Group I 50 meters breaststroke event, at the 34th sub-junior and 44th junior state aquatic championships held at the Velachery Aquatic Complex on Sunday. Danush broke the record held by Sethu Manickavel of TDSA-Tirunelveli who had a timing of 00:28.81 set  in 2014.
AA Deepankar of SDAT-ASP clocked 00:29.40 and came second, while Siva Santosh of TSPA came third with a timing of 00:30.12.

Yash cracks ton

Yash Dubey’s century (123) helped Central Zone to post a total of 314 and draw the match against South Zone in the BCCI inter-zonal U-19 two-day game, at Southern Railway grounds on Sunday. Prateek Yadav also contributed with the a half century.
