CHENNAI: All roads today will lead to ITC Grand Chola, as The New Indian Express is back with the fifth edition of its annual education event, ThinkEdu Conclave, beginning on March 3. Starting at 10 am, this two-day event has seen the likes of Anna Hazare, the late APJ Abdul Kalam, Sashi Tharoor and several other public figures in the past.
This time too, heavy-weights from the fields of politics, academics and social activism will weigh in on the present and the future of education in our country. While the conference will start on a high note with Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar sharing his vision of education in India, a befitting conclusion, in the form of a keynote, will be delivered by Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi.
Topics like 'Should there be profit in education?' and 'How do you navigate a non-traditional career path?' will be on the forefront today and providing us with insights into these would be Sachin Pilot, former Union Minister; Shaheen Mistri. founder, Teach For India and Ayaan Ali Bangash, musician; Rema Rajeshwari, IPS officer respectively, and others. After the key address for the day by Natrajan Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons, the first day of the conclave will conclude only to bring another exciting set of speakers the next day.
In conversation about women's education in India on Saturday will be Lt Governor of Puducherry Dr Kiran Bedi with actor and activist Gautami Tadimalla. Also, PP Chaudhary, Union Minister of State for Law and Justice and two others, will answer the question 'Do our law schools produce world-class lawyers?'.
More discussions on Make in India, profit in education, investing in healthcare and religious education will ensue in the course of the event which will see it's conclusion with the closing keynote address by Nobel Laureate Kaialsh Satyarthi about funds coming in the way of providing good public education.
