What did college teach you?

College was a lot of fun but I couldn’t enjoy it much as I was focusing on how to get into the film industry.

What was your proudest moment in college?

In college, I took part in a lot of theatre. Those drama practices have made me a better performer today. I am proud of it.

Have you had any embarrassing moments in college?

I did my PUC in Surana College and did not face any ragging there. But in Jain College (2008), where I pursued BCom, it was the opposite. My seniors asked me to wear T-shirts, which was not allowed in college. They used to steal petrol from my vehicle. More than embarrassing, it was quite irritating for me.

How did you score points with the opposite gender?

I used to get a lot of attention from the boys. Initially, I found it weird but later it became so rampant that I stopped worrying about it.

Was bunking a part of your college routine?

Of course! I had 13 per cent attendance. I used to spend most of my time in theatre. They didn’t allow me to sit for my final exams. Then I requested Sundar sir and a Kannada teacher, who were into serials. They helped me appear for my exams.

Did you have any rifts with professors? Why?

I often fought with professors because they always questioned me about my attendance and punctuality — I was never on time.

Where did you hang out in college with friends?

Both the colleges are in south Bangalore. I used to hang out at a chaat joint near Jain College. I also went to SLV joint, and Corner House was my favourite.

What extracurricular activities were you involved in?

I only participated in plays during college. I won a lot of intercollegiate competitions. In one of the plays, director Nagabharana’s son Pannaga Bharana played the role of my father.
