Tell us about the MSc in advanced computing?
The MSc in advanced computing is a specialised programme that offers in-depth knowledge on advanced topics in computing science to existing graduates in computing or a closely related discipline. It offers up-to-date expertise in distributed programming, mobile phone app development, computer security and forensics, voice over IP, project management, artificial intelligence and computer games technology. In addition to the general programme of study towards the MSc, it also offers four variants — software enginee ing, computer network systems and applications, computer games technologies and computing for eBusiness — to allow students to specialise in a particular topic depending on their specific interests and prior expertise.
How is the course delivered?
We offer small class sizes with seminars not larger than 15 students. Practical work is a core element of the programme. This builds up from self-contained tasks in the first semester, over a larger programming assignment in the winter break in January to a group project in semester two. The MSc project at the end runs over three months, and we offer company sponsored projects and placements.
Are scholarships available?
The top 30 per cent of Indian students on the programme will get a scholarship award of £3,000 (approximately Rs 2.5 lakh) which is deducted the tuition fees. Details at mko@cs.stir.ac.uk.
