

Velammal’s ‘Wings of Glory’ convocation held
Velammal Institute of Technology , Thiruvallur, TN, recently felicitated its graduates on the occasion of its third Graduation Day. Stephen Sudhakar John, Vice President-HR and GS at Hyundai Motor India and V Ramanathan, Vice President and CTO of Banking Technology Group TCS, were the Chief Guests for the ocassion. T Chandrashekar, principal, delivered the welcome address and presented the annual report. Around 300 students received the degrees including 200 students. MV Muthuramalingam, chairman Velammal Educational Trust, MVM Velmurugan, CEO, MVM Sasi Kumar, director, MVM Veeravel Murugan, Executive Director, Prof Razak, Advisor, S Soundararajan, Vice-Principal, all the department heads, faculty and staff members graced the event.
TCS VP distributes degrees to graduating students
Agni College of Technology, Chennai, recently celebrated its ninth Graduation Day on April 6 at the college premises. SRR Senthil Kumar, principal, inaugurated the event. R Ganesh Shankar, associate professor, Department of Civil Engineering, welcomed the gathering. Hema Gopal, Vice-President, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), delivered the convocation address and presented the certificates to the students. Over 200 graduands received their degrees. P Janardanan Menon, Governing Council Member of the college, was also present along with HoDs of all departments.
Experts speak on aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul at KCG College
KCG College of Technology, Chennai, recently conducted a seminar on ‘Aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul’. This seminar focused on the aviation field and its career prospects. Lt (Rtd) P Pathmanathan, Ex-Indian Navy, Deputy Director of Airworthiness, Chennai Airport, DGCA, India, was the chief guest and delivered the inaugural address. He spoke on the importance of civil aviation requirements and flight safety. B Elangovan, General Manager, Aerospace Park Project—TIDCO spoke on the employment opportunities available in the country. R Arunagiri, Deputy General Manager, Rotary Wing Research Development Center, Hindustan Aeronautical Limited, Bangalore, gave an insight on Helicopter maintanence, repair and overhaul with respect to the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) – DHRUV. Former General Manager, Aircraft Maintenance Division, Air India, Rangamani, spoke on various inspections and techniques used in maintenance, repair and overhaul.
New Horizon College wins tournament
MVJ College of Engineering Hosted Smt Rajalakshmi Jayaraman State Level Inter-Collegiate Volleyball at their Bangalore Whitefield campus recently. Over 16 reputed colleges from across the state took part in the championship game to create exciting and competitive matchups. The finals were played between New Horizon College of Engineering and CMRIT. The winners trophy and cash prize was won by New Horizon College of Engineering, Bangalore. The runner-up trophy and cash prize was won by CMRIT, Bangalore, and MVJ College of Engineering was the 3rd runner-up. KS Shanmukharadya, Principal, MVJ College Of Engineering was present at the event.
Sports day celebrated with much pomp
The Annual Sports Day of Vels University, Chennai, was held at the campus on April 3. Ishari K Ganesh, chancellor, Vels University, delivered the presidential address. S Ravi, principal commissioner of Income Tax (Tamil Nadu and Puducherry), inaugurated the sports meet and delivered the special address. Senthamarai Kannan, former chief commissioner of Income Tax was the guest of honour. A Arangannal, physical director, delivered the annual sports report for the year 2013-2014. R Mathialagan, registrar, Vels University, welcomed the gathering and P Sathiyamoorthi, controller of examinations, delivered the vote of thanks.
National Workshop on Research Methodology at BIMTECH, Bhubaneswar

Graduate ceremony for executive diploma students at XLRI
XLRI’s Xavier School of Management recently organised a Graduation Ceremony for students of its Virtual Interactive Learning (VIL), Executive Diploma in Human Resource Management (Lonavala, India and Dubai), Entrepreneurship Development and Agri-Business Management programmes at their campus in Jamshedpur. On the occasion, TV Narendran, Managing Director, Tata Steel India and South East Asia, was the chief guest for the ceremony and delivered the graduation speech. At the ceremony, more than 600 students from VIL programmes under postgraduate certificate programme in business management (PGCBM) and postgraduate certificate programme in human resource management (PGCHRM), 27 students from executive diploma in Human Resource Management programme, 57 students of the postgraduate programme for certificate in entrepreneurship management (PGP-CEM), 19 students from agri-business management programme received their graduating certificates and medals from Fr E Abraham, Director of XLRI.
