Setting an Example for his Peers

BHUBANESWAR: Snehadeep Kayet, 21, is pursuing BTech (Civil Engineering) in KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, but he has a bag full of achievements to his credit already. He participated and received ‘Honorary Mention’ award in the Model UN New Silk Way International Conference held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, hosted by Al Farabi National University (fully sponsored and supported by US Department of State). He has also participated as a director for United Nations Human Rights Council in the London International Model United Nations Conference, 2014 organised by Imperial College, London.

With a keen interest in international relations and geopolitics, he started attending model UN conferences in 2012. After participating in more than 18 prestigious national-level model UN Conferences, he had the privilege of serving as a director for the prestigious London International Model UN Conference 2014. He also received a full scholarship from the US Consulate, India for participating in the New Silk Way Model UN Conference, 2014. The New Silk Way Model UN Conference 2014 had

participation from various central Asian countries like India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

“The event was not only a mere agglomeration of cultures and traditions, but also gave an international platform for the budding diplomats to discuss various issues like trade and tariff, post 2014 Afghanistan and domestic violence,” he says. Snehadeep was the diplomat representing UK and Northern Ireland at the Model United Nations Security Council.

Snehadeep says, “I felt proud to introduce Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences to the administrators of New Silk Way Model UN Conference and also to the Rector of Miras University, Kazakhstan, which is in the process of signing a memorandum of understanding with KIIT University.”
